SFP modules, on the other hand, usually use fiber optic interfaces, such as LC interfaces, but copper interfaces can also be implemented through the use of adapters.
3. Transmission rate: GBIC modules mainly support 1Gbps transmission rate, while SFP modules can support higher transmission rates, including 1Gbps, 10Gbps or even higher.
4. Power Consumption: Due to its smaller size, SFP module usually has lower power consumption and is more energy efficient than GBIC module.
5. Application scope: GBIC modules are mainly used in older networking equipment and some specific applications, while SFP modules have become more common and widely used optical modules for a variety of Ethernet, fiber optic communications and data center equipment.
It is important to note that while SFP modules are superior to GBIC modules in many ways, GBIC modules are still supported by some devices and may still be used in specific environments or where there is a specific need for an interface type.
