Optical fiber fusion splicing

Fiber optic fusion splicing is the center of the splicing work, so high-performance fusion splicing machine and fusion process of scientific operation is very necessary. 

 

1.  The choice of fusion splicing machine 

 

According to the requirements of the fiber optic cable project, equipped with battery capacity and precision of the appropriate fusion splicing equipment.  According to experience, Japan FSM-30S arc fusion splicer performance, stable operation, high quality fusion splicing, and with dust and windproof cover, large-capacity battery, suitable for a variety of large and medium-sized fiber optic cable project.  Siemens X-76 fusion splicing machine is smaller, simple operation, with a simple cutter, battery and host into one, easy to carry, slightly less accurate than the former, the battery capacity is small for small and medium-sized fiber optic cable projects. 

 

2.  Fusion splicing procedure 

 

Before fusion splicing according to the material and type of optical fiber, set the best pre-melt main melt current and time and the amount of fiber feeding and other key parameters.  The fusion process should also promptly clean the fusion splicer "V" groove, electrode, objective lens, fusion chamber, etc., at any time to observe the fusion in the bubble, too fine, too coarse, false fusion, separation and other undesirable phenomena, pay attention to OTDR test instrument tracking monitoring results,  timely analysis of the causes of these undesirable phenomena, to take appropriate improvement measures.  If the phenomenon of false fusion occurs repeatedly, you should check the fusion of the two fiber material, type is matched, cutter and fusion machine is not contaminated by dust, and check the electrode oxidation condition, if there is no problem should be appropriate to increase the fusion current.
