Countermeasures for Optical Fiber Failure

Optical fiber is an important channel to connect the unit and the main control board, and once the "optical fiber failure" occurs, the communication between the unit control board and the main control board will be interrupted. Optical fiber is the nerve center of the inverter, once the fiber failure, the inverter will be paralyzed, thus causing serious economic losses to the production unit. Therefore, when a light failure occurs, it should be dealt with in a timely manner and treated seriously.


The handling method of fiber optic failure


  When there is a "fiber optic failure", the following work should be done.

  1. check whether the power module power supply is normal (normal, L1 green indicator light);

  2. check whether the power module and the controller's fiber optic connector is off;

  3. whether the fiber is broken, light leakage;

  4. whether the fiber is covered with dust;

  5. unit control board, fiber optic board damage, reported fiber failure;

  6. sometimes the inverter in the power failure will report the unit fiber communication failure, is a normal phenomenon, the direct reset can be.


  Field experience 

  1.unit control board on the module power supply (HAS5-5-W) output abnormal or other power module input short circuit (inverter a power on, standby, running process may occur).

  2.miniaturized fiber failure; cause of failure: poor anti-interference performance of the unit control board. Solution: Add a magnetic ring on the drive line.

  3. discrete devices caused by the fiber optic failure;

  Discrete devices: CPLD, crystal, fiber optic seat (in other classes)

  Fault stage: the device is powered on, you can report a fiber failure

  Treatment: Field replacement unit control board level.

  4. fiber optic seat corrosion ;

  Module electrolytic capacitor blown, but not see the equalization resistor damage, sometimes fiber failure, sometimes drive failure, the main characteristics: unit control board fiber optic seat fuzzy.

  5.other classes caused by the fiber optic failure.

  (1) small transformer burned;

  (2) loose fuse;

  (3) rectifier bridge fire;

  (4) fiber optic shrinkage; 

  (5) electrolytic capacitor spraying liquid. 


  Fiber optic attention

  The bend radius of the optical connector to the fiber optic cable should not be less than 30 mm, which is the minimum allowable bend radius.

  Avoid applying 80 N (8.2 kgf) or more of tension to the fiber optic cable. Even a momentary out-of-range pull can cause permanent damage to the fiber.

  Do not twist the fiber optic cable.

  When connecting the fiber optic cable, note that the optical connector should be inserted vertically into the optical connection socket, without an inclined angle. Also, when the optical connector is connected, the blue and gray parts should be inserted all the way into the optical socket.

  During the installation process, possible situations that may cause twisting of the fiber optic cable should be avoided.
