Single-mode patch cords are generally distinguished by single-mode and multi-mode in data transmission equipment. single-mode patch cords are usually yellow in color and have two wavelengths, 1310nm and 1550nm, with a transmission distance of 10km and 40km respectively; multi-mode patch cords are usually orange in color and have a wavelength of 850nm, with a transmission distance of 500m. they can also be divided into the following categories according to the type of connector:

FC-type patch cords: round fiber optic connectors, additional metal sleeve reinforcement, fixed by screw fastening.
SC-type patch cords: rectangular connectors, fixed by plugging and unplugging pin latch type, do not need to rotate.
ST type patch cord: round connector with snap-on connection, fixed by screw fastening.
LC-type patch cord: square connector, fixed by the modular jack (RJ) latching principle for easy operation.
The main types of pigtails are single-core pigtails, dual-core pigtails, 4-core pigtails, 12-core bundle pigtails, 12-color bundle pigtails, SC bundle pigtails, FC bundle pigtails, LC bundle pigtails and ST bundle pigtails. In addition to these there are also the following types:
Bunch pigtail: This pigtail, also known as pigtail bundle, consists of Corning tightly sheathed fiber, aramid fiber reinforcing elements and flame retardant PVC protective jacket and is more popular and widely used compared to other types of pigtails.
Ribbon pigtail: ribbon pigtail is the same as bundle pigtail, both are multi-core pigtail, ribbon pigtail contains 12 cores of fiber, one end is used for fusion splicing, and one end is equipped with connector.
Armored pigtail: the outermost layer of this pigtail is more durable than the conventional pigtail with an extra layer of metal protection.
Fiber pigtail: low insertion loss, high return loss, good interchangeability and repeatability, very easy to use.
Waterproof pigtail: with a dense protective sleeve and waterproof sealing connector, suitable for harsh environments.
