Liquid And Nokia Backbone Networks Boost African Connectivity

Liquid Intelligent Technologies has partnered with Nokia to deploy its transport network technology in a new terrestrial fiber optic line connecting Mombasa (Kenya) and Johannesburg (South Africa).


The announcement was made in the context of the upcoming launch of a new terrestrial data highway built by Liquid to connect Kenya and South Africa. The technology used enables Liquid to build its first terrestrial route, providing 12 terabit capacity to operators and service providers in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo.


The new route will also provide more resilient connectivity and access to numerous data centers and cloud resources for thousands of businesses and millions of households in many of Africa's landlocked cities, towns and villages. It also provides an alternative in the event of submarine cable disruptions in both countries.
