The basic requirements of fiber optic cable line maintenance

  1、seriously do a good job of organizing technical information

  4、Conduct regular measurements

  In order to grasp the quality of the optical cable line changes, the attenuation of each fiber channel should be measured regularly, make a record and compare with the as-built records and previous measurements. When the channel attenuation increases significantly, the cause should be found. And study to determine the solution. The periodic measurement of channel attenuation can use a stable and reliable insertion loss measurement method. General quarterly or semi-annual test; where available, it is best to observe the entire backscatter curve of each channel once a year with OTDR, observe and record the changes in the attenuation of each section of the fiber and each fiber connector, and pay attention to the curve with or without a slight Fresnel reflection point and abnormalities.


  5、timely maintenance and emergency repair

  A fiber optic cable has a large transmission capacity, long-distance trunk line is even more so. Therefore, it is vital to ensure that the fiber optic cable line works stably and reliably for a long time. In the process of daily line maintenance and regular testing, if any abnormalities or hidden problems are found, corresponding measures should be taken to eliminate the hidden problems and achieve timely processing. In particular, when a major fault occurs in the fiber optic cable line, there should be multiple sets of contingency plans for the scheduling of the pathway to be used in different situations. At the same time there should be able to quickly repair the fiber optic cable line research, training and implementation plans to quickly complete the emergency tasks from the alarm to repair.
