Optical modules are optical devices that transmit and receive signals. Electrical signals are converted into optical signals at the transmitter end of the module, and then into electrical signals at the receiver end, thus realizing photoelectric conversion. In order for them to realize the exchange of information, you need to connect them, but because of the different interfaces of the optical module, we need to use the matching patch cord, the following is related to its content.
One 40G QSFP optical module is connected to four 10G SFP optical modules, which need to be connected with MPO-4DLC fiber optic patch cables.
Optical Module Interface Types
It mainly introduces the MPOMTP interface, dual-core LC interface, single-core LC interface, and RJ-45 interface among the optical module interface types.
MPO/MTP interface type optical module has QSFP28 optical module, CFP2 optical module, QSFP+ optical module, using MPO/MTP patch cord connection.
Dual-core LC interface type optical modules are QSFP28 optical module, CFP optical module, CFP2 optical module, QSFP+ optical module, SFP28 optical module, SFP+ optical module, and SFP optical module, which are connected using dual-core LC patch cables.
Single-core LC interface type optical modules are BIDI optical modules, it is worth noting that BIDI optical modules must be used in pairs. Use single-core LC jumper connection.
RJ-45 interface type optical module is an electrical interface optical module, using twisted pair cable for connection, compared to fiber optic transmission mode, twisted pair cable transmission distance is small, only applicable to a small range of networking environment.
