FTTH and FTTB

Jun 06, 2023

FTTH and FTTB are two different fiber optic network technologies.
FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) is a fiber optic network technology that connects fiber directly to a customer's home or office for "last-mile" fiber access. FTTH technology requires fiber to be installed in every house in the coverage area, so it is more expensive to implement, but it provides the highest quality network connectivity.

FTTB (Fiber-to-the-Building) is another fiber optic network technology that connects fiber to a distributor or switch in the building and then distributes the network connection to individual subscribers over copper or coaxial cable. FTTB technology can provide higher bandwidth and speeds than traditional DSL or cable networks, but the transmission speed and quality may not be as good as FTTH.
Overall, FTTH provides a higher quality network connection, but is more expensive to implement and requires more infrastructure to build. FTTB, on the other hand, is a more affordable and easier-to-implement technology for some medium-density residential or commercial areas.
