The main purpose of fiber optic inspection is to ensure the quality of the system connection, to reduce the failure factors as well as to find out the failure point of the fiber in case of failure. There are many testing methods, mainly divided into manual simple measurement and precision instrument measurement.
1. Manual simple measurement:
This method is generally used to quickly test the fiber optic through and through and to distinguish the fiber made during construction. It is a simple light source from one end of the fiber into the visible light, from the other end to observe which one light to achieve. This method is simple, but it can not quantitatively measure the attenuation of the fiber and the fiber breakpoint.
2. Precision instrument measurement:
Using an optical power meter or optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) for quantitative measurement of optical fibers, the attenuation of the fiber and the attenuation of the connector can be measured, and even the location of the fiber breakpoint can be measured. This measurement can be used to quantify the causes of fiber optic network failures and to evaluate fiber optic network products.
