(1) FC type optical fiber connector


The connector was originally developed by the Japanese NTT.FC is the abbreviation of Ferrule Connector, indicating

that its external reinforcement is made of metal sleeve andfastened by screw buckle. The connector has the advantages of simplestructure, easy operation and easy fabrication, but the optical fiber terminal is sensitive to dust, and is easy togenerate Finel reflection, so it is difficult to improve the performance of return loss. Later, the type of connector was improved by using the spherical pin (РC) on the end face of the joint, but the external structure was not changed, which greatly improved the insertion loss and the echo loss performance.


(2) SC type optical fiber connec tor


This is an optical fiber connector developed by Japan NTTcorporation. The shell of the utility model is rectangular,and the structural dimensions of the contact pin and the coupling sleeve are exactly the same as those of the FC type. The end face of the pin adopts PC or APC  grinding method; the fastening mode adopts plug pin and latch type,and does not need rotating. The connector has low price,convenient insertion and operation, small fluctuation of the intervening loss, high compressive strength and high installation density.


The ST and SC interfaces are two types of fiber connectors.For 10Base-F connections,connectors are usually of type ST.


For 100Base-FX, connectors are mostly SC type. The core ofthe ST connector is exposed and the core of the SC connector is insidethe connector.


(3) biconical connector :(Biconic, Connector) ;


The most representative products by the Baer laboratory developed this kind cf optical fiber connector, which consists of two end precision molding is cylindrical conical plug coupl ing component and a double tapered plastic sleeve with internal composition.


(4) DIN47256 type optical fiber connector


This is a connector developed by germany. The structure ofthe pin and coupling sleeve used in the connector is thesame as that of FC, and the end face treatment adopts PCgrinding method. (7) type MU connector


MU (Miniatureunit Coupling)connector is the world's smallest single core optical fiber connector based on the most widely used SC connector at present,developed by NTT,


The connector uses a 1. 25mm diameter .bushing and self retaining mechanism, with the advantage of achieving high density mounting.Utilizing the MU 1.25mm diameter bushing

NTT has developed the MU connector series. They are used for socket type connector cable connection(MU-A Series);with self retaining plate connector mechanism (MU-B Series)and to simplify the socket connection LD / PD module and plug (MU-SR series). With the rapid development of fiber network to larger bandwidth and larger capacity, and the wide application ofDWDM technology the demand for MU connector will increase rapidly.
