Valoo Selects Nokia For Multi-Gigabit Fiber Network Deployment

Finnish network operator Valoo has selected Nokia to deploy its 10G broadband network in the country.
Valoo is 100% owned by DIF Capital Partners, an independent infrastructure equity fund that controls more than EUR 15 billion of investments worldwide. Valoo specializes in fiber optic broadband access and is currently working on a large scale fiber development in the Finnish market. The company recently announced that in addition to building a fiber network, it will offer its own Internet service subscriptions and make its network available to third-party operators.
By the end of 2026, the new network will connect 200,000 households in 30 cities and 30 surrounding municipalities. Partners include fiber access nodes in the central office and Nokia's Altiplano broadband access controller, which includes software-defined access network (SDAN) capabilities. Nokia's Quillion chipset is at the heart of the solution, and the XGS-PON deployment is ready for 25G PON when Valoo wants to add more capacity. Quillion also means lower emissions.

Last but not least: Nokia's multi-gigabit fiber has a 95% lower carbon footprint compared to traditional point-to-point solutions due to its increased energy efficiency. As of this spring, we are the first fiber company in Finland to implement Nokia multi-gigabit fiber to our customers, and I am very proud of that."
