Truespeed UK Invests £22m in Fibre Optic Network

Bath-based provider Truespeed is investing £22 million in a number of South West regions, including South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath, to accelerate full fibre deployment.


As part of this, the company has added 12 new areas to its plans to extend its network into the South Gloucestershire region: Thornbury, Almondsbury, Bradley Stoke, Patchway, Stoke Gifford and Chipping Sodbury. in Bath, Truespeed is In Bath, Truespeed is expanding its footprint in Bathwick, Widcombe and Combe Down. In addition, the provider is adding the North Somerset areas of Uphill, Banwell and Sandford to the south and east of Weston Super Mare to its complete fibre network.


This latest investment is designed to help deliver full-fiber broadband to an additional 43,000 properties in the region. With its full-fiber technology, Truespeed can deliver guaranteed symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 900Mb/s for residential customers and up to 10Gb/s for business users.


Planning and construction is underway, and Truespeed's build-out model is designed to allow customers to connect to its services as construction progresses throughout 2023. As the network has expanded, Truespeed has scaled its operations and now employs more than 200 people directly in the region while creating additional work for its contractor partners.

Earlier this year, the company introduced XGS-PON technology from Adtran as part of its network expansion to help customers build and connect their networks at faster speeds.
