Polish energy company TAURON has completed the first phase of fiber optic network deployment under the state-backed operating program Digital Poland (Programu Operacyjnego Polska Cyfrowa, POPC). TAURON has laid infrastructure in 104,000 homes in 876 towns and cities and connected 428 educational buildings, according to a report by Telko.in. The company now hopes to win more government-subsidized contracts under the POPC program, which aims to improve broadband connectivity in underserved rural areas of Poland.
