PPTEL And Juniper Networks Partner To Build Core Network in Malaysia

Apr 21, 2022

PP Telecommunication Sdn Bhd (PPTEL), a leading network service provider based in Sarawak, Malaysia, has selected Juniper Networks, a self-proclaimed leader in secure, artificial intelligence-driven networks, to provide a solution to build a new core network that will support its growth plans.

The network will provide the foundation to help PPTEL meet the demand for critical high-speed Internet connectivity. The move also comes as Sarawak, East Malaysia's largest state, prepares to make significant changes to its digital infrastructure as part of the Sarawak Multimedia Authority's (SMA) plan to fast track the state's digital economy. PPTEL's infrastructure puts the company in a unique position to support these plans, the partners said.

The company relies on submarine cables from strategic locations in the region to reduce latency while keeping services efficient and cost effective. pptel is also building its first Tier IV data center in east Malaysia.

To better support Sarawak's digital economy goals and PPTEL's own plans to expand services into Southeast Asia, the service provider selected Juniper Networks' routing and switching solutions to build its new core network. Juniper Networks' MX Series Universal Routing Platform and QFX Series switches will deliver industry-leading system capacity, density, security and performance, said Juniper Networks.

PPTEL's Juniper-powered network, combined with its BaSICS cable system, will enable service providers to deliver high-quality, low-latency connectivity to consumers and businesses in Sarawak and Southeast Asia.

The Juniper Networks provided solution will also enable PPTEL to effectively scale its network and ensure that consumers and businesses can take full advantage of the benefits of 5G connectivity.
