Peruvian telecommunications company Optical Networks has announced plans to add two data centers to the market. It will be in the city of Lima.
According to the BNamericas website, the expansion is driven by the need for two new local data centers to meet the growing demand for business services. But that's not all. The company has announced plans to build another data center in Lima province. In fact, it is already under construction, with a start date before the end of this year. Another facility for recovery purposes will also be built in Lima.
The manager of the Optical Networks Data Center and Cloud business unit added that the company may invest in smaller edge data centers in the future and is evaluating modular, prefabricated and stacked container models.
So far, no specifications have been provided for any of these units. However, Optical Networks currently operates three data centers in Lima, with additional facilities in the southern Peruvian city of Tacna and Arequipa, the second most populous city in the south.
After more than 20 years in the Peruvian market, Optical Networks undoubtedly has a diverse portfolio. It offers business connectivity, managed services, corporate telephony, corporate network security, cloud services, thermal imaging and, of course, data centers for the commercial sector.
