As Russia continues its hostilities in Ukraine, one internet service provider has reported service disruptions or heavy traffic overwhelming their network, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The internet provider said its services were disrupted in several areas, including parts of the capital Kiev, but some services in the capital have been restored, although minor damage continues to prevent normal service.
The Georgia Institute of Technology's Internet Outage Detection and Analysis (IODA) project revealed that several areas of Ukraine were experiencing partial outages.
It connected the following locations in and around Kharkiv, Kiev, Dnipro, Zaporozhye, Poltava, Odessa, Sumy, Rovne, Chujiv, Brovary and Slobodzhansk.
A spokesman for the Ukrainian State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection said that the Ukrainian government had warned its citizens that telecommunications services would face "possible" disruptions in heavy traffic. If calls are not connected, it is recommended to use SMS messages.
According to Ukrainian cyber security experts, Russia has been waging a cyber war and acting against Ukraine with ongoing denial of service attacks on government, banking and digital services.
