Fiber Optic Network Brings Colorado Springs Closer To Gigabit City Status

Aug 04, 2022

Indiana-based independent provider Metronet has begun construction of a high-speed, full-fiber network in Colorado Springs as part of a $130 million investment to make the area a "gigabit city.

The network is fully funded by the provider and is expected to be completed within two years. Work has already begun in the area north of Dublin Avenue and east of Union Avenue, with the first customers to be connected later this year and rapid expansion throughout Colorado Springs. As construction continues throughout the city, customers will be able to sign up for pre-sales. In addition, Metronet plans to hire local marketing management positions, sales and customer service professionals, and service technicians to support the build-out in the area.

Residents and businesses are one step closer to accessing ultra-high-speed Internet as we begin construction of a 100 percent fiber optic network in Colorado Springs," said John Cinelli, Metronet CEO. Reliable service is critical. Just over a year after we began conversations with the city, we are proud to officially begin building a network that will bring gigabit speeds, including 5Gb/s, directly to the homes and businesses of our first city via XGS PON technology. will serve in the Centennial State of Colorado Springs.
