The Austrian company Energie AG Oberösterreich will build an optical transmission network at 18 sites in Upper Austria. The company will use the network to carry traffic from FTTH nodes in regional sites back to two central sites. Deployment is already underway.
Energie AG Telekom, a subsidiary of Energie AG, currently operates a fiber-optic network spanning more than 7,000 kilometers that can generate up to 6.4 Tb/s of aggregated traffic. The capacity of the new transport network can be expanded to tens of Tb/s, providing Energie AG with the ability to grow with demand.
Nokia's portfolio of optical network hardware and software products will be used for the upgrade. This includes the Nokia 1830 PSS (Photonic Services Switch) platform, supported by its Photonic Services Engine (PSE) coherent technology and Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP) software automation suite.
