Isle of Man's local regulator, the Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority (CURA), revealed in its latest quarterly statistical report that 78 percent of premises are now fully fibre connected.

According to CURA, a total of 33,000 premises will have access to fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology by December 31, 2022, up from nearly 25,000 premises a year ago. Meanwhile, the regulator noted that 37 percent of full-fiber homes and businesses were using the technology by the end of 2022, up from 32 percent at the end of 2021, with FTTP-based broadband subscriptions accounting for 32 percent of the island's total fixed broadband subscriptions at the end of 2022 (Dec. 21: 21 percent). Overall, the number of fixed broadband subscriptions remained largely unchanged at 36,200 in Q4 2022, compared to 36,000 in the same period last year.
In addition to the update on fixed broadband take-up, CURA's statistics report also confirms that fixed voice subscriptions are still on a downward trend, falling from around 39,000 at the end of 2021 to 36,200 at December 31, 2022. In the mobile sector, meanwhile, CURA reports a total of 93,000 subscriptions (including data SIM-only) as of the fourth quarter of 2022, down from 95,000 in the same period last year. subscriptions) in the fourth quarter of 2022, down from 95,400 in the same period last year.
