Collaboration To Create New Michigan Fiber Route

Jan 10, 2023

Michigan provider 123NET has partnered with Internet and phone service provider DayStarr Communications and network and service provider Peninsula Fibre Network to deliver a 90-mile fiber route connecting Southfield to Lansing.

This multi-million dollar joint investment brings state-of-the-art fiber opportunities to Lansing, Okemos, Williamston, Webberville, Fowlerville, Howell, Brighton and other cities along the way. Construction of the underground for this investment has begun and will continue for approximately 18 months.

The common goal of all three companies is to improve connectivity options in underserved or unserved areas of the neighborhood. This investment will not only bring connectivity to nearby communities, but will also create opportunities for additional partnerships in the future.

At DayStarr, our mission is to improve the lives of our communities through communication," said Collin Rose, president of DayStarr. For more than 20 years, we've been committed to providing the best communications services to our customers in our region. Ten years ago, we recognized that an all-fiber network was the best way to achieve this goal. We are excited that both commercial and residential customers will benefit from the increased capacity and reliability that this high-speed broadband fiber will bring to our area. DayStarr was founded in central Michigan and is excited to work with 123NET and PFN, two Michigan companies, to create this new path to better connect our state."

Dan Irvin, President and CEO of 123NET, added, "Creating the best network requires multiple and varied routes between population centers. "We have 25 years of experience building fiber on traditional and lesser-used routes to create diversity and bring fiber to underserved areas. Making Michigan the best connected city on the planet is part of our mission. PFN and Daystarr are the ideal partners for this latest expansion."

Scott Randall, General Manager of Peninsula Fibre Network, concluded, "Continued investment in Michigan's telecommunications infrastructure is both prudent and necessary. We are pleased to partner with 123NET and DayStarr to strengthen our joint position as national leaders in the telecommunications industry and to help achieve the state's goal of providing ubiquitous broadband coverage for all residents and businesses."
