China Unicom And ZTE Upgrade Optical Network Services

Jan 21, 2022

ZTE has helped China Unicom complete the first automatic turn-up of multi-protocol cross-vendor services in China in an existing optical network.

According to news from the international mobile internet telecom, enterprise and consumer technology solutions provider, the test validated the service automation deployment and interface openness of ZTE's intelligent control system and put interoperability and disaggregation into practice for multi-vendor devices in ON (optical networks).

This greatly facilitates the operator's ON integration and lays a solid foundation for the automation of its enterprise network.

With the gradual expansion of ON, China Unicom aims to achieve ON integration by automating end-to-end cross-vendor service creation in its existing network, thus providing better services to its enterprise customers.

In this test, the SD-OTN collaborator developed by China Unicom was used to connect intelligent control systems from different vendors, one of which was ZENIC ONE.

The collaborator can successfully access inter-domain topology and link resources within and across vendors, automatically create and remove unprotected and protected services for ODU (Optical Channel Data Unit) transparent transport, automatically create and remove unprotected and protected services for EOO transport (Ethernet over OTN), and allow service bandwidth adjustment and fault location on demand.
