Consolidated Communications completed the deployment of fibre to 8,500 homes covering five New Hampshire towns two months ahead of schedule, a feat the company attributes to a combination of planning and good weather.
The construction in Fitzwilliam, Goshen, Jaffrey, Marlborough and Troy resulted from a public-private partnership agreement announced in March 2021 and was scheduled to be completed in March 2022.
Consolidated's vice president of marketing strategy says it was able to complete the project so quickly due to a number of factors. First, she noted that the buildings are "primarily aerial fibre, and we've had cooperative weather." The company was also "very fortunate to have a solid supply chain, thanks to the timing and planning scope in the public-private partnership."
It was also noted that the company's ongoing fibre expansion plans mean it already has the labour resources and "proven processes" to help speed things up.
Previously announced plans call for the transmission of fibre to 1.6 million locations by 2025. The company's chief executive said in December that it was on track to reach 300,000 locations by 2021, with plans to add 400,000 by 2022 and 400,000 by 2023.
The company's "strong pipeline" of public-private partnership agreements was another factor highlighted as enabling it to "easily plan, prioritise and align resources" to complete its work in the aforementioned towns more efficiently. This work stream "will continue until 2022, although each version will be different."
Public-private partnership agreements covering a number of other New England towns were announced last year, including Charlestown, Gilsum, Greenfield, Langdon, Marlow, Roxbury, Peterborough and Union, New Hampshire and Easterbrook, Long Island and Stonington, Maine. Other.
